Bianca

Bianca is a lone parent. She finds that having three children with very different needs at home, is very difficult. Her eldest child is in Year 8 and dyslexic. He is in the process of getting a support plan.

I make costumes for an independent school, which is a brilliant fun job. So, for all their productions I make the costumes. But I’m on furlough leave at the moment and it’s looking very likely that I’ll be made redundant like lots of people currently, because normally I work with big casts of children and people and they’ve told me that there’ll be no work for me.

Possibly October is the next time I’ll be able to work, and they don’t know how long they’re going to be able to furlough me for. Also, nobody knows about crowds of people, about if you can actually have performances any more, or productions. They don’t know if they’re going to support it. I’ve been there less than a year so I’m probably going to go.

Although I’m smiling as I say that, because I think, well what else can go wrong really? You know, at least we’re all healthy. So I’m going to use that as an opportunity to kick start my business again, and I just think forewarned is forearmed. So at least, if in my head I know that I’m probably going to be made redundant I can start trying to do something about it. I would say I’m glass half full with a dose of black humour, glass of wine and as much sport as possible, and laughter. That kind of keeps me sane.
